  • Where is the clinic located?
Our Saginaw location is at 4600 Fashion Square Blvd. Suite 110, Saginaw, MI 48604. The building has a big "Block Advisors" sign on it. When you arrive, it is easiest to park on the left side of the building (instead of behind the building). Then you can enter the left side door. Once you enter, head straight down the hallway and the clinic is the first door on your right. Our Troy location is at 900 Wilshire Dr. Suite 110 Troy, MI 48084. It is easiest to enter through the main lobby, then turn right and head all the way down the hallway. Hint: The numbering system in the building is random, so continue down the hall until you hit our suite. Our Bad Axe location is located inside Optimal Wellness Chiropractic at 222 Park Ave Bad Axe, MI 48413. Enter the main door and feel free to have a seat in Optimal's waiting. Our Inspire treatment room is all the way down the hall. Your pelvic floor therapist will come find you when she's ready for you.
  • Do I need a referral?
Michigan has direct access to physical therapy, meaning you do not need a referral to start physical therapy. If your physical therapy extends beyond 21 days or 10 visits, then your physical therapist can recommend how to best obtain a physician referral. Michigan has full direct access to occupational therapy.
  • I heard pelvic floor therapy includes an internal exam. Do I need to have this performed?
For most pelvic health issues, an internal exam is considered the gold standard for examining the pelvic floor muscles, nerves, joints, and fascia. However, we will never perform an exam or treatment that you are not comfortable with. There are many external ways we can assess the pelvic floor.
  • What should I wear for my appointment?
That totally depends on which visit you are on! For your initial evaluation, it doesn't really matter. As you progress through the stages of treatment, you may want to wear clothes that you can easily move in. Depending on your goals, when you get to the dominate phase, you might be running outside, playing volleyball in the grass, weight lifting in our gym, or any number of activities! Your therapist will always give you an idea of what to expect at your next visit.
  • What will my initial evaluation be like?
The first thing you'll do is chat with your therapist about what brought you in for pelvic floor therapy. We want to get to know you, your symptoms, and your goals! Then we'll do a full body assessment, checking things like spinal range of motion, core and hip strength, and anything else that applies to your symptoms. Your pelvic floor therapist will give their recommendation for your plan of care (how many visits you may need and how often you should come in) and you will work together to build a treatment plan to help you reach your goals. Each patient is different and so each appointment in different. If you ever have questions about the care you will receive, please reach out!
